Club run to Ipswich
Brian and Lorraine picked a perfect day and location for our 11 November Club Run. We met at our usual spot at Cameron Park, with a good roll-up of members.
Those in Austins included the Wrights and Parkers in A30s, James and Kay Whyte in the A40 Ute and Nairn in the Freeway. A couple of surprises were Kev and Paula Airton their latest acquisition, the A90 Westminster previously owned by Miles and Margaret MacDonald, and Will and Annetta in a very nice 1980 TF Ford Cortina, having sold their A60. We were also joined by Ann Gehrke in her LTD, Marilyn Wybrow and Rex Eaton, Bernie and Madonna Bianchi, all in moderns.
The morning tea stop after an easy run through Karalee and Riverside Estate was at Joseph Brady Park, where the Bremer and Brisbane Rivers meet. We were there for about 15 minutes and at 11:00 am we observed a minute’s silence as it was Remembrance Day, and 100 years after the 1918 Armistice.
From there, it was a run through Colleges Crossing and Mount Crosby to a very scenic drive along Kholo Road to North Ipswich and our lunch stop at the MiHi Tavern.
All in all, a very pleasant day and thanks to Brian and Lorraine for their organisational skills.
