Adventure across Australia for AMVCQ members

Our Club members Mervyn and Margaret Thompson are also members of the Veteran Car Club of Australia Queensland (VCCAQ) and are about to undertake a wonderful adventure with the VCCAQ, driving their vehicles from East Coast to West Coast, (Beachmere QLD to Broome in WA).

Some 43 pre war (pre 1919) cars and motorcycles will undertake this adventure with 4,747klms being driven. Merv and Margaret will be travelling in their 1915 model ‘T’ Ford.

On Sunday 17th July (Our President’s breakfast and workshop day) they will driving their vehicles to Beachmere to dip the rear wheels in the ocean. Then, when they arrive in Broome they dip the front wheels in the ocean on 11th August.

They head off on the Veteran Car Club touring rally to Broome departing the Caboolture Historical Village next Monday morning 18th July.

9am is the official departure time, with the unveiling of a plaque at the Blue Tree by the Mayor which has been painted in recognition of The Blue Tree Project (Mental Health).

Come and join with me to farewell Merv and Marg at Caboolture.

They travel through to Yarraman for the first night.

Any country members are welcome to see the cars pass through their area.

What a great undertaking for these old vehicles!
