Across Australia Trek update No 3

After being out of service for a few days or bad internet, here’s the latest from Merv and Margaret Thompson on their trek from Brisbane to Broome in their 1915 Model ‘T’ with 40 odd other verteran vehicles.

Day 14 saw them leave Barkly Homestead after completing 2,300 klms, their half way point for a big day drive of 323 klms to Renner Springs.

Day 15 and they traveled onto Daly Waters, another 243 klms. Below are some photos from the Daly Waters Outback Pub, which Merv and Margaret say was a great place for a Barra Meal cooked on the BBQ with entertainment.

He might take a while to catch you, but once he has………….

Day 16 and the trip was from Daly Waters to Katherine, another 269 klms. There was a stop at Mataranka for morning tea and fuel - that all important juice to keep the ‘T’ running.

Here are some photos on the way to and arrival in Katherine - the 3,172klm mark.

Thursday night (4 August) the rally was welcomed by the Katherine Enthusiasts Car Club, with a BBQ, sponsored by Shannons Insurance. The Car Club has Clubrooms in the grounds of the Katherine Museum.

Day 17 is a well earned rest day with the temperature reaching a sticky 34 degrees…….and they call this winter!
